Climate Change

The source I chose for this assignment is Global Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet. The website was created by NASA and is frequently updated, so I can confidently say that the evidence stated is reliable.
NASA provides multiple points which support the existence of climate change. These points include rising global temperature, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, retreating glaciers, decreasing snow cover, rising sea levels, declining Arctic sea ice, and rising ocean acidity. All of these phenomenons are very likely (according to NASA more than 95% likely) the result of human-made emissions since the mid 20th century. Since then, there has been an increase of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, which trap the heat from the sun, in our atmosphere.

The particular piece of evidence that I am going to discuss is rising global temperature. It appears that  this issue is most important because all the other events, excluding rising ocean acidity, are the result of the warming of Earth's climate. The increase of atmospheric CO2 has increased Earth's average surface temperature by 1.1 degrees Celsius (2 degrees Fahrenheit). The majority of this rise in temperature has happened within the past 35 years. This past year, 2016, has been the hottest year recorded. As the atmosphere continues to heat, more ice will melt and ocean levels will rise at an alarming rate. I have never put much thought into global warming, but after doing this assignment I am truly concerned. What will become of Earth after all of this change? The warming of the climate and CO2 emissions must be addressed soon so that we can find a solution before it is too late.
Here are two videos provided by the NASA site which depict the changes occurring due to climate change:
